About S. Rumi Saifullah
At the intersection of culture, music, and philosophy.
S. Rumi Saifullah is the curator and host of One Step Beyond. His work sits at the intersection of culture, music, philosophy, and the lived experience of moving between civilizations.
Through One Step Beyond, he brings together voices from different traditions and disciplines to explore the deeper questions of human life — not to resolve their differences, but to listen across them.
“Like the abstract art, we are now and then seeking and exploring our own abstracts — until a beautiful part of us unfolds, without our egos brushing the final stroke.”
His approach is shaped by a life lived between worlds — East and West, tradition and modernity, the clinical and the contemplative. He is less interested in answers than in the questions that endure: how we stay whole in a fragmented age, how sound carries memory, how the body remembers what the mind forgets.
One Step Beyond is his invitation to slow down — to gather artists, physicians, healers, and thinkers around a single question, and to listen for the deeper understanding that emerges when they speak across the lines that usually divide them.
In his words
“Walking in the golden footsteps of Mother Nature — whether arid deserts or blooming flower gardens or the coral reefs — engulfs us in the love of introspection, and letting one’s soul go where it truly desires.”
“In the realm of love — that comes in many forms and dimensions which often do not meet our eyes — we wish happy valentines to our souls, truly teaching us the very essence of love.”
